Free audio changes with no setup step

Audacity and Pitch Tempo are both free. Pitch Tempo’s immediate advantage is access: open the website, choose a recording and make the change. You do not need to download an editor or install an additional format library on your device.

For a short backing track or practice recording, the guided workflow keeps attention on the settings you need: pitch, tempo, preview and export. It also includes musical key and BPM estimates for the uploaded recording.

From your recording to your next rehearsal

To lower a backing track by one semitone, enter −1 for pitch and keep tempo at 100%. To make a slower copy in the same key, leave pitch at 0 and reduce tempo. Choose a supported download format when the edit is ready.

Audacity includes a much broader editing workspace, with recording, multiple tracks and effects. Pitch Tempo concentrates on the pitch-and-tempo workflow. Both allow independent pitch and tempo changes; the comparison is not a claim that Audacity lacks those controls.

Sound quality comes first

Our focus is clear, natural-sounding audio after a pitch or tempo change. Preview the opening of your recording before export, then download the complete result. WAV and FLAC preserve the processed audio without another lossy encoding step; MP3 offers a compact listening copy.

Keep a copy of the original and choose the smallest change that achieves your musical goal. The source recording and the amount of change affect the final sound.
